XVI Olympic Winter Games.
The 1992 Albertville Olympic Games were the last Winter Games to be
staged in the same year as the Summer Olympic Games (Barcelona).
Albertville itself only held 18 of the 57 events; the rest were hosted
in nearby Alpine resorts.
Womens biathlon made its debut as an official discipline.
Short track speed skating was added to the Winter Olympics.
Freestyle Moguls was added as an Olympic Winter event.
Norway's Björn Daehlie
and Vegard Ulvang dominated in
Albertville; winning three gold medals each.
Egorova, representing the Unified Team (EUN), also won three golds and two
silver cross-country medals at Albertville 1992.

Ice Hockey, Luge,
Albertville is situated on the Arly River, close to the confluence
with the Isère; in the Savoie
department of Rhone Alpes.
